Professional Ballroom 2018 writeup by Michael Barr

Freedom to Dance 2018
Professional Ballroom by Michael Barr
This was the 8th presentation of the Freedom to Dance Competitions. The organizers are to be congratulated on a wonderfully glamorous event. The ballroom looked fantastic & the orchestra was outstanding. Joe Pettitt & the Len Phillips Big Band played some terrific music which alone was worth the price of a ticket, but then we were also treated to some excellent dancing.

How to Win Blackpool by Anne Gleave

To be an Adjudicator by Anthony Hurley

From Education Master Anthony Hurley Having recently watched the unbelievable youtube video of the adjudicator who was recording his marks like a magician’s sleight of hand and he never raised his eyes to study the competitor’s performance. One wonders how many more irresponsible judges there are masquerading in their tuxedos passing judgement and deciding who the champions of the day will be. I therefore thought it may be of some interest to put into writing my feelings about adjudication.
